Day 2, Watkins Glen to Alexandria Bay, NY

Finally, a beautiful day with plentiful sunshine, no threat of rain and cool temperatures.  "Tops Down" was the call and everybody stowed their hooding.  Breakfast at the Seneca Inn, check out, pack up and off by 8:45am.  The drive up route 14 on the west side of Seneca Lake was serene.  So pretty, green fields, shiny water, smooth roads and very light traffic.

We cruised through Geneva, NY and saw Bruce and Dolores Reynolds car parked on Main St.  They had left the Glen early to have breakfast on the road.  Geneva is the center of a rich agricultural and nursery region and is home to a local wine research and development center supporting the many New York state wineries.

Northward now, toward Sackets Harbor and lunch at the Sackets Harbor Brew pub.... this is a pub crawl after all.

The deck at the Brew Pub has an expansive view of the lake and local marinas.

Andy and Anne display our Flat Ellen and Flat Bill here at Sackets Harbor.. then shortly thereafter a gust of wind took Flat Ellen over the fence and into the drink, under the patio...causing a moment of panic for all.

But,  Andy came to the rescue, to the delight of the other crawlers.

Collecting the cars after lunch and answering questions from bystanders who are logically enthralled by our unusual cars.

Sackets Harbor is site of one of the first battles in the War of 1812 where, it is told that five British battleships were repelled by one US ship and a group of farmers on shore with a single cannon.  The only British shot to land near the farmers was loaded into their cannon and returned, taking down the mast of the British flagship.

Off we go, on our way to Clayton, NY

The cloud formations were spectacular as part of today's almost perfect weather.

Amish buggy's were often sighted in this part of the country.

Clayton is home to a fabulous Antique Boat Museum

We spent an hour or so looking at historically significant wooden boats.

This is a 30' Hacker runabout.

And this is the "Pardon Me", in the water.

Our final stop of the day is the lakeside community of Alexander Bay, at the junction of the St Lawrence Seaway and Lake Ontario.  This area is known as the Thousand Islands.

Checked in, ready for some downtime and dinner.
