This year, we venture to the north east again, starting in New York state, at the historic town of Watkins Glen, and all of the racing and sports car history there. From there up to Lake Placid, Vermont, Quebec, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont again and end back in New York state.
Today (July 7) most of us started out early in the morning, after enjoying the Fourth of July holiday at home. Three cars from Ohio met up along US62 with Reg Hahn of Cincinnati leading off. Reg met Bruce and Betty Dawn Hardman from Belpre, OH in Alliance, then Gary and Sally Kneisley in Canfield who had driven over from Grafton that morning. Lunch in Canfield then off through Youngstown and north east to our overnight stop in Warren, PA where Vern and Sandi Campbell, and Charlie and Beth Miller joined us. Others started from Virginia, the Carolinas, and Washington, DC..
Gary and Sally loaded up, ready to go.
On the road, finally. (Photo courtesy of my neighbor Dave)
Once in Canfield, OH, I had the fun of taking my grandson for a short ride.
The southern Ohio gang arrives in Canfield.
Reg shows off his Road Kill.
Alleghany National Forest.
Awesome trees and mostly smooth two lane roads. Morgan driving at its best.
The Alleghany River.
Finally, we reached Warren PA for our first overnight.
Here's the first part of the Ohio gang in front of Chiodo's Italian. Nice.
Gary, Sally, Reg, Betty Dawn and Bruce.
To Watkins Glen tomorrow.
Great pctures, Gary. Looks like a smooth start.
ReplyDeleteLooking like a fun trip; wish we were there to join in the fun. We were in Watkins Glen on Morgans over America 2005 and it rained cats and dogs then! Lots of fun with Charles Miller involved in a bread roll battle! Take care and go well.
